Unfortunately Zimbabwe continues to experience a shortage of US Dollars cash. Please note that there are also cash withdrawal restrictions in place at ATM’s and these vary between $300 and $100 per card per day.
Therefore, we recommended that visitors bring small denomination US$ bills with them for payments where credit cards are not accepted: some smaller shops and restaurants, the craft markets, or for gratuities. Although Euros, UK Pounds and South African Rand are also accepted in cash exchange rates may not be as favourable, thus the US Dollar is recommended.
Credit cards may be used for payment of entry visas at all ports of entry into the country, however this is subject to the machines being on-line. Also please note only Visa and MasterCard are accepted; Amex, Diners and Maestro are not.
