Old Drift Lodge is set some 4.5 kilometres upstream of the Victoria Falls. It is set on the banks of the Zambezi, within the National Park (56 000 hectares). This is an area frequented by elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, and lion to name but a few. Old Drift Lodge gets its name from the ford (also known as Sekute’s Drift) that was once used to cross the River (at low water) in the 1800’s.
Accommodation at Old Drift Lodge is in 10 spacious en suite Tented Suites. All of the Suites at the lodge boast excellent River views from private decks, a plunge pool, and sleep out deck. The suites are well-appointed and guests also have the use of indoor and outdoor showers (and outdoor bath). The 4 Family Suites have 2 bedrooms with a shared bathroom. All of the accommodation is air-conditioned. In addition, there are now 3 Star-bed Suites at the Lodge. The main lodge area enjoys 360 degree views - north facing onto the Zambezi River and south facing onto a water hole. Old Drift Lodge is the closest lodge within the National Park to Victoria Falls, and luxury boats transport guests to and from the town. The dining and bar areas offer sweeping views of the Zambezi River, whilst the lodge also boasts a dining deck and a floating star-gazing and fireside deck. Old Drift Lodge is ideally situated within the National Park and offers guests all-inclusive insight into an exquisite natural world. The activities offered emphasize the rich natural environment, focusing on the abundance of wildlife that roam through the Park and swim beneath the surface of the Zambezi. The Zambezi National park can be explored on a 4 x 4 game drives, a river safari and walking safaris. This makes for an excellent addition to the more traditional stay in the Victoria Falls area. |
