Imvelo Safari Lodges are thrilled to announce the launch of daily horse riding activities for guests enjoying a safari at Bomani and Camelthorn Lodges in the south of Hwange National Park.
7 well-trained horses are making their way to their new stables on the Camelthorn Concession ready for this new activity, which is scheduled to start 01 March 2018.
Camelthorn and Bomani already offer some exceptional safari experiences such as transfers by rail car, close up photography in the underground blind and authentic and enriching cultural immersions. In partnership with Hwange Horseback Safaris, owned and operated by Dennis and Sharon Nel, guests can now enjoy a variety of daily horse riding activities - ranging from beginner level to experienced riders.
5 different daily activities will be on offer - based on rider competency level:
1. Beginner Bush Experience - approximately 1 hour for beginners and novice riders
2. Hippo Sunrise - approximately 3 hours for experienced riders
3. Cultural Ride - approximately 5 ½ hours for intermediate riders
4. Sundowner Ride - approximately 2 hours for intermediate riders
5. Full Day Safari Ride - approximately 8 hours for experienced riders
In line with Imvelo's ethos, this new activity has positive implications for the local community, as it provides new jobs and will support Nganyana Village close to Camelthorn Lodge. Guests on the Cultural Ride visit the village, and get to see local craft production - including basket weaving, beading and jewellery making – riders are welcome to try their hand at these crafts too.
The expansive savannah vleis that border Camelthorn along with the Ngamo Plains make for the best safari riding areas in Zimbabwe and guests will be able to enjoy leisurely strolls or more adventurous rides all led by experienced guides.
These activities are not included in Camelthorn and Bomani rates for 2018 but have great opening special prices and can be booked prior to arriving in camp or whilst in camp (based on availability).
These activities will require flexibility on the ground and may be subject to changes in start time, duration, and location visited, as required.
